There is no provision of law that provides for citizenship, lawful residency, or entitlement to remain in the United States of a noncitizen based on the citizenship of a natural-born citizen offspring.
Anchor baby is most certainly NOT a lie.
When said anchor baby turns 21, s/he can--as a US citizen--sponsor his illegal alien parents and any other illegal alien butthead family member.
Illegal aliens use their anchors to collect welfare of all kinds, as has been stated MANY times on this forum.

The term "anchor baby" assumes that having a US citizen child confers immigration benefits on the parents and extended family. This is generally a false assumption, as immigration law does not allow a US citizen child to sponsor his parents until he or she turns 21. Once the child turns 18, immigration law also allows a US citizen child to sponsor his own siblings with a 15 to 23 year quota delay. Immigration law does not provide categories for any other relatives that would apply in this situation. In addition, if the parents are illegal immigrants, they are usually barred from immigration despite having a sponsor.[1][13]
In the public debate surrounding "anchor babies", it is also frequently assumed that an "anchor baby" would be beneficial in deportation proceedings. Such benefits do not exist except in the very rare case of extreme and profound hardship on the child. Approximately 88,000 parents of US citizen children have been deported in the past ten years.[14] Federal appellate courts and the Supreme Court have upheld the refusal by the Immigration and Naturalization Service or Immigration and Customs Enforcement to stay the deportation of illegal immigrants merely on the grounds that they have U.S.-citizen, minor children.[15]

If illegal aliens could not benefit from giving birth on U.S. soil, they would not risk swimming the Rio Grande in full-blown labor or near term. Nor would they be unemployed and give birth to 10 children during a 15-year period. Without their U.S.-born children, they would not qualify for welfare, subsidized housing, and myriad other tax-funded benefits reserved for U.S. citizens. Most illegals aren’t concerned with “citizenship” they simply want to remain here, and giving birth improves their chances. Furthermore, it doesn’t matter what the laws state, because the laws aren’t being enforced.
Believe it or not, millions of illegals have NOT been deported due to the birth of their “anchor” babies. Yes, some are deported, but millions of others remain here and continue to give birth. After all, it would be inhumane to deport the mother of 10 U.S.-born children.
Which poll are you looking for? I can find it. You're looking for a poll that proves what? Which issue are you saying isn't true? 'Cause I know from memory that at the moment, most Americans (US residents, voters or citizens) have a pretty bad taste in their mouth about illegal immigration.
With the majority of Americans against Amnesty, (Before lazy people ask me to cite sources, Google is a wonderful tool) it surprises me to no end to see how many SOB stories are on sites like NBC, CNN, and other news media. What is their purpose? The user comments for each SOB story generally run like this:
"Oh boo hoo, another SOB story which tries to make us feel sorry for the leeching illegal immigrant".
or
"ILLEGAL IS NOT A RACE, IT'S A CRIME"
or
"Deport them and all other noncitizens!"
So in other words, these stories generally fail to elicit any sort of sympathy - yet the MSM continues to print these stories - why?
Russell Pierce AZ State Senator has authored a bill he plans to present January to ban anchor babies. Most of you should know Pierce as he is the author of AZ SB 1070. I personally don't know much else about the new proposed law but it will get attention soon.

believe it or NOT...Ripley's wouldn't even print this stuff.
Why don't the media show Mexicans crossing the border with children. Taking them to a country where they do not know the language, the culture and taking them away from their families and friends. But the show illegals being deported and complaining they are taking their anchor babies to a country that they do not know. They already know the language and the culture so it is not as bad as those coming here.
