So, um... not wanting to sound like a party pooper, but has there actually been any evidence this is caused by illegals ? Because this might just sound like another one of those "not illegal immigration related" issues. I was taught that correlation does not imply causation, has things changed ?
And no, I'm not here to troll you - I'm genuinely curious.
Yac.

I think the correlation is that the company was so intent on making big fast money and wasn't very interested in following any kinds of laws - it was involved in hiring illegals, it was involved in animal cruelty, it was involved in workplace abuse - the whole ball of wax.

It's about how evil and money lusting the cheap labor types can be.

Blaming the illegals = FAIL.
It's not over yet, and as Benicar noted, if illegals were the cause for contamination, our government would never reveal that.

As per today's Canadian Press:

CBC News - Consumer Life - Feed may be source of salmonella in U.S. eggs

Quote:
Sherri McGarry of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition said the salmonella found at Wright County Egg matches the fingerprint of the salmonella found in many of those who were sickened. She said the tests indicate that contaminated feed is a source of the outbreak but possibly not the only source.
Quote:
McGarry and other FDA officials emphasize that the agency's investigation is continuing, and they do not yet know how the feed became contaminated. Investigators are analyzing as many as 600 samples from 24 locations at the two farms.[LEFT]

Quote:
Officials said they are not yet certain whether the feed came to the farms contaminated or was contaminated at the farms.

Quote:
FDA Deputy Commissioner Dr. Joshua Sharfstein said investigators are not looking only at the feed but at the "overall contamination of the facility." Contamination found in the feed could be a part of a larger problem there, he said.

And it's not just that if they were the direct cause, it's that shady businesses and crooks are allowed to break all kinds of laws and regulations which they do because they worship the almighty dollar. It's all about getting rich quick, no regard for anything else.

The illegals may be the cause or the symptom, just like the horrific abuse of the animals. And we know that politicians were bought off right and left so that laws would be left unenforced.
