The area where I live doesn't have many illegals(if any). Guess what, AMERICANS work in the restuarants, farms, mines, retail stores, butchers, meat packing plants, delis, and even construction jobs.
Americans actually want these jobs after all. Imagine that.
I've never seen this where I live in Western Pennsylvania. But I have seen it in Maryland and thanked God I live where I live after leaving that state.
McDonald's Corporation has been moving to divest itself of most of its company owned stores for about the last 3 years. I estimate only 10-15% are still company owned in the US. This is because franchises make four times the profit.
So if one hires illegals, it is on the franchisee. Report it to ICE. It is true a multiple store owner in Reno got caught and was fined $1 million. He was a big shot locally, but this really brought him down. Sold his McDonald's and bought a Fudruckers. Illegals can't pronounce Fudruckers without cussing. That's how he verifies citizenship now.
99% of the workers in my hometowns fast food restaurants are hispanic. They may be illegal or legal. I don't know. But I have to assume that most of them are undocumented because most do not speak any english and are dark skinned indian types.
Do you think there is any statistics on the percentage of people from an Hispanic background that are ethnically Indian and are very dark skinned and do not speak english and work in low skilled work in relation to legal status?
I have no clue. Yes, I think most of us wonder about people (young particulary that speak no or little English, but I don't assume they are all illegals. I wonder, that isn't the same as assuming.
Nita
I assume they are illegals when they can't speak enough English to take an order, since kids in school here even if they are illegal or anchor babies know some English or quite a bit and usually translate for their parents.
I've actually had to order in Spanish at Jack-In-The-Box!
