That would be smart.

Mexico in many of it's cities is not at all dangerous. Americans will be heading soon to Cancun. Mexico is a democracy, it has a freedom, elections, the whole bit. Mexico is somewhat a friendly government with the US government.

It's absurd to give asylum out because someone fears street crime when they can simply relocate to safer neighborhoods or towns like Americans do all the time. Or they could demand reforms where things are bad.

The fact is in Mexico even where the violence is high, it are the people involved that are targetted. Carjackings are high but it is certain vehicle types desired by the cartels. Street crime is absolutely no reason to be give asylum. And by giving thousands of Mexicans "political asylum" then what's going on with the two governments? Do we now view Mexico as an evil dictatorship whose government is enslaving the people?

And also there is no evidence at all that this 20 year old unwed mother's life is in danger. Why would the cartel be after her? She made it clear she wasn't going to take on any cartel. She never stood up to anyone, never made an attempt do so.

Also she never reported any threats ever made. Not that being police chief couldn't be a dangerous job if one was actually standing up to the criminals. She never did such a thing.

Morales and the mayor, José Luis Guerrero, decided to fire Valles.

Morales said Valles had not reported any threats, and that they thought she was safe.

So... What was the reason for being fired? Is the Mexican government investigating the "threatining" messages she received? I didn't think so.They are more than happy to let her find her way over to our side. It just further widens the disparity gap between filthy rich and dirt poor in our neighbor to the south.
