This is at least a first step.... If it is so unimportant why did the Democrats do this?

Of course they are concerned about changing demographics, that is what happens when a certain culture coming here illegally for over 30 years with out of control breeding start to have American offspring.

Your points right on. Non citizens helped elect democrat CA governor Brown, also in Reid in NV....even though their opponents were slightly ahead in polls near election time. We can't have our votes cancelled out by non citizens who will decide our elections.
no biggie imo, They will continue to rape and pillage our system without voting.
Because government allows them to come here, that's why voting in right person (a few good men) can reverse illegal immigration according to Robert Bonner former head of border and customs, and other experts.
Yep, the only thing stopping an illegal from voting in most states is if they're not inclined to LIE, and we know that's not a problem most of them seem to have. Strangely enough, attesting you're a USC when you're not (especially to any authority) is a felony AND (if legal) a deportable offence, including a lifetime ban from this country with no waiver, yet if they're illegal it's "no biggie".
At least Texas is trying to do something to stop the illegal alien infestation..
