COLUMBIA, S.C. – The American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Law Center, the ACLU of South Carolina and a coalition of civil rights groups announced they will file a lawsuit challenging the draconian racial profiling bill passed by the South Carolina legislature today if Gov. Nikki Haley signs it into law. The bill’s key provisions sanction discriminatory and unconstitutional practices by police officers and employers by inviting racial profiling of Latinos and others based on how they look or talk, interfering federal law. Under this extreme bill, police are required to demand “papers” from people they stop whom they suspect are not authorized to be in the U.S.
I went shopping today and was asked for my papers several times. Can I file a lawsuit?
Maybe we just need to grow up and realize that if we want to utilize the priviledges of this country such as driving and making transaction we are going to have to show our papers to those we do business with. It's been going on for years. Word of advice....carry your papers. It's quite simple.
Yep. What's that old saying? "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t!!.
No truer words. And, this is a boatload of BS.
