people from other cultures just don't give up their own. It is their children that decide the culture of the land.
There was a different culture and language established here long ago. I suggest anyone who doesn't like it to leave. No one is asking anyone to give up their native cultures at home but adapt to ours out in mainstream.

This worn out old argument about the past is getting tiresome since all those people are dead now and we aren't them and they weren't us. We cannot speak for what people did in the past nor are we responsible for what they did or didn't do.

...illiterate in English? Hell yes I am suggesting that.

How so? The average illegal does not complete high school, so how on earth is that progress?

Maybe you should read the article in the OP. Especially since we're 5 pages in on this thread.

No, illiterate in Spanish. It is a daunting task to try to teach them English. How do you teach a Spanish-speaking person English, if they can’t even read or write in Spanish?

Wait, are you really blaming the entire deficit on the presence of illegal immigrants in our country?

How can they assimilate?

Their culture is not like ours.

I don't know. Are you planning on legislating the purposeless details of your culture? I happen to be American, a "Hispanic" one. Are you going to attempt to make me live my life the way you live yours? because a legistated culture is a culture void of any true meaning. If "American" culture really is superior than it will show by its triumph. you are free to commit to your plans eitherway, I suppose. So how exactly is this going to work? seal up the borders? ban Spanish? decrease the number of "hispanic" immigrants by lowering the citizenship quota?
