Kansas City, Mo. — A Missouri woman pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to her role in a more than $5 million conspiracy that utilized the Missouri Department of Revenue license office in St. Joseph to provide more than 3,500 fraudulent identity documents to illegal aliens across the United States.

We might as well leave the barn door wide open. With Obama planning an amnesty and the GOP thinking of passing a version of the NightMare Act, how will they determine who any these people really are?

And didn't some Congress or our States not make it a felony anymore for illegals to do that?
For everyone else it is a felony though.

I wonder how many illegal aliens are using Social Security numbers of kids that will not be working for another 10, 15, 20 years? They will be in for a big surprise when they get their first job.

The court ruled that use of a SS# not issued to the user by SS isn't a crime, unless the person knew it was stolen. So, if they didn't know it was stolen, or it's fake, there's no crime committed. I'm not sure if it was the Supreme Court, or one of the federal district courts. This was ruled in a case concerning illegal aliens, but I'm not sure they'd be so lenient with citizens.

They may not even get a job. Who knows what kind of credit score, or illegal activity is attached to that card?

Millons of Americans with hispanic surnames and Puerto Rican adults and children have had their identities stolen.

Puerto Rican Identity Theft Scheme

Puerto Rican documents have shown up in immigration raids in states throughout the U.S. Data was discovered from thousands of school children and from renewal license forms at the Puerto Rican Department of Motor Vehicles. These documents sell for up to $6,000 on the black market.

Stopping Illegal Aliens from Stealing Our Children’s Identities

The woman is illegally in the United States and purchased the Social Security number so she could get work well before Jennifer’s son was even born. Rather than removing the fraudulently obtained number from the system and arresting the person using it, the Social Security Administration closed its eyes to its use, collected the Social Security taxes paid on it, and then assigned the number to Jennifer’s son. He was, therefore, born into identity theft.

I am a victim of SS# fraud. I was doing a travel assignment teaching ACLS in another state and the company ran my ss# and said, "Well MS. Gonzales you look nice today." Now they thought it was funny but I didn't. Especially since I'm a guy... Anyway, the SS office didn't do a dam thing about it. And in fact, the idiot said, well, just think how much income you will receive on SS? No joke, that is what he said.

Wow. I am so sorry. Although I must say that I am not surprised. Fortunately, I have been 1 step ahead of identity thieves for more than a decade now. It is no joke wondering how long it will take before someone successfully steals your identity. The paranoia is unnerving. As sad as it is you're lucky the perp hasn't sold it to a few hundred people. There is nothing funny about it.

You are so right about ID theft. And just as you stated above, the paranoia became very real. My next step was to run the 3 credit reports. Whew! You are smart for staying ahead. I got the protection for me and all my family and so far nothing bad. I hear the nightmares of people who's ID was stolen and getting it corrected is like an act of congress.
