The budget for deportations isn't infinite. They aren't saying deportations will stop (in fact deportations have increased considerably during Obama's administration), it simply means that deportations must continue to meet the priorities of the federal government (ie, only when someone has a felony conviction on his or her record). This is consistent with what the SCOTUS concluded through its ruling today: immigration policies are set by the federal and not the state government. So the federal government's position is simply that the state of Arizona shouldn't overwhelm them with calls unless the following criteria is met: only convicted felons will be deported...for now, that is the priority.

Law/Policy allows for "proprietorial discretion" on a "case-by-case basis". What Immigration Law does not allow for is broad disregard for detaining illegals simply because the administration determined only illegal felons need be removed. Obama has usurped his position and is becoming a dictator with his overly broad interpretations of immigration law (only Congress can dictate law in regards to immigration). To punish Arizona by rescinding all 287(g) programs in the State of AZ is poor leadership on his part. S-Comm is still in force at the jails. Since he is refusing to detain illegals in AZ, unless convicted felons, he is showing his will over-rides that of the requirements as set forth by the Congress over immigration.

If the Obama administration will not do it's job, AZ should take a simple approach. Cut a one-way door in the border fence, opening into Mehico. Build a 3-sided, 5 acre compound, with 30ft high, concertina wire fencing. Use the borer fence as one side of the box. House all illegals pending Fed pickup there...with no food, water or shelter....but an open door to Mehico. They may decide to self-deport and save us a lot of legal costs.
I hope we have some leadership in the Border Patrol and ICE that has the stones to tell Obama and his henchmen to FO and will actually go and do the job they exist to do.

There shouldn't be any priorties. If our government can afford to spend billions of our taxes on illegal aliens while here there is no reason that money can't be spent on deporations of all illegal aliens instead. In the long run it would be better fiscally for us, for Americans and won't make a mockery out of our country being a nation of laws with soveirgn borders. Our laws demand that all illegal aliens be deported. Obama has no right to pick and choose.
