The time required to investigate all these statements and documentation (which I doubt they have) would have been better spent processing legal immigrants.

Republicans hate the thought of a hundreds of thousands of people already living here paying taxes, instead of not reporting their taxes and getting paid tax free. Wait. What.

I don't consider illegal immigration to be a party line issue. However, both parties may have a vested interest in allowing illegal immigrants to remain here. Their reasons may not be the same but they are there anyway.

It makes no sense to me to want illegal immigrants to remain here to pay taxes when if an American held that same job they would be paying those same taxes and then some at a higher rate of pay. Americans usually get benefits on the job like healthcare so that would actually reduce the taxpayer obligation to cover them. In the case of illegal immigrants the job usually consists of lower pay with no benefits and who do you think picks up the tab for their healthcare costs?

Some if not many illegal immgrants do not pay income taxes or have no tax obligation at the end of the year because they are either not on the payroll books or their income is low and they have dependants.
