Understand the "public charge" regulations apply to legal immigrants. Once again, a misguided post has nothing to do with someone being in an illegal alien status. Why is there a focus to linking legal and illegal immigration together when it seems to relate to a specific ethnicity?

The inference is to primarily being a "Public Charge", with no other immigration violations (or lack of immigration status) that ICE could use to take someone into custody. I'm wondering why an ICE union rep is even bringing it up. Does that mean I can expect the boys in black tactical gear to break down my front door with guns drawn wanting to check our financial records?
Without the easily obtained welfare handouts, most of these people would not be coming here. They can't afford life in their own country with it's much lower cost of living, they can certainly not afford it here with our much higher costs of living.

The "malamute" theme song about legal immigration. It's heard around here quite a bit. You forgot the verse about no health plan with dental coverage, we're getting immigrants with bad teeth.

I think the salient point is: ICE has been essentially relegated to being nothing more than an ineffective, worthless DHS agency. They are no longer enforcing the laws they have sworn to uphold. ICE is now a total waste of taxpayers' money.

This is correct. We all know who illegals are, where they live, work. If this agency wanted to enforce laws, buses would be full of folks going back from where they came. And this includes people who have overstayed on student visas, vacations..this is not just a "Hispanic" issue. That is where this gets convoluted.
Ahwile back a young girl was picked up for being illegal...and the officers who picked her up were picked on, "she was not doing anything, why are you bothering her...". She is illegal. It is their job to pick up illegals. They got so much grief, and worse yet, our own government would not have their back. What a completely useless and frustrating job. Do your job, and get nailed. Go figure it.

If they have more like Chris Crane as a union representatives, I might agree with you. He's confused on what the agency has set as priorities, and wants to go after legal immigrants instead. Whatever the "Daily Caller" can use to whip up things to civil war, including censoring comments that get in the way.

Do you have a link? To my knowledge, ICE is only targeting "violent" criminal (illegal) aliens. Have you forgotten Obama's directive? However, if legal immigrants commit deportable offenses, why should they be ignored?
