Lakewooder,

The amount of scapegoating, racist views, ignorant statements on this sub-forum are enough to make me sad.

Perhaps the term "anchor babies" is at the root of this misunderstanding---perhaps it would be better to call these tiny folks "charter citizens"......or "post-illegals"....

Well in all honesty the kids are better off anyway, they will take the knowledge given in America and hopefully apply it in life. I know I would.

However, I think this will prove to be something in future, these children could grow up very angry at the United States.
Big deal...America and Americans are hated globally.

Just a few miles from where I live last week a young mexican girl locked herself in the bathroom at work and had a baby, she put it in a trash can and covered it up with paper. Then she left work and went home, by the time someone found the baby it was nearly dead... it died on the way to the hospital.

She worked at a mexican resturant and she has only been in the country a month, law enforcement found out from her job.... couldn't speak one word of english.

And will she be deported? Imprisoned? What would the authorities do to an American who did such a thing? Would be interesting to follow the story and find out.

I'm watching the local news and papers but so far nothing new on it. The news didn't say if she was here illegally or not, but the mexican restaurant she works at has been reported several times for hiring illegals. If she is here illegal most likely will be deported and nothing else done about it. If I get anything new on it I'll post it.

I find it difficult to believe there are children who speak only English, but whose parents speak only Spanish. If the parents speak only Spanish, the children speak Spanish too. Otherwise, how do they communicate at home? The children would learn Spanish just by hearing their parents converse.

Since the US doesn't allow dual citizenship, all those who claim dual citizenship with Mexico, should be stripped of their US citizenship.

In Mexico you are a citizen if you are born from a Mexican parent. So no, they are and will be Mexican citizens.

The above poster is also correct, only naturalized citizens in the US are allowed dual citizenship. The smart ones will keep the American birth certificate for their children and get them a blue passport eventually.
