So sad, John, this scenario is repeated far too often in the Douglas area.
The smuggling, both drugs and people, is out of control mainly because the Border Patrol Agents are so limited in their capabilities whilte the smugglers (aka: coyotes) are so well funded and motivated.
This particular case speaks volumes as to why we do not need "foreign vehicles" on our highways.
Hope they catch them all. I live in Yukon, where this happened.

I don't understand why this is relevant? Sure, some illegals (and legal) will smuggle drugs. But guess what- my uncle just got out of Fort Dix for smuggling over 900 pounds, and that was a light load for him. Blonde haired, blue eyed American. Just dumb. :P And like many Americans who are caught doing that, he got sent to what the family likes to call "prison lite" with the corporate scammers and such. All of his partners in the drug trade were American non-Hispanics.
It's just a little sad that people continue to characterize the drug trade as something just those "dirty Mexicans" take part in. It's a lucrative option for anyone who wants to feel like a rock star in a high profit, high risk game.

Umm, the only person that said that all the drug smuggling is done by Mexicans was you. 95% of cocaine in the US is brought in through the Mexican border, as is a high percentage of Marijuana and other drugs. EVERYONE KNOWS that we have our own problems, but properly securing the borders would cut down a number of crimes in the US that occur because of border securement failure. Secure the border, STOP THOSE CRIMES! The "our citizens do it too" argument is the only thing that's IRRELEVANT.

I agree, SimpleMan
The frequent argument that not all drug smugglers are illegals is basically feeble and shallow!
As stated many times before . . . we have plenty of "home grown" criminals so we do not need to import more!
Smuggling is not equivalent to immigration, thread closed.
