I dont think anything of it. It is his and his colleagues responsibility to help get the border secure and pressure this Administration to secure our borders...aka FOLLOW THE LAW. Our immigration policies are just fine. The problem is THEY ARE NOT ENFORCED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enforce the damn laws in place before anyone starts crying about our policies.
Ever seen the size of our borders? Good luck with securing them as a solution to the issue.

2000 miles -- the only place in the world where the politicians don't think there can be a fence. We've got millions of miles of fences everwhere else -- there are fences around prison, schools, city parks, the White House, along interstates, around zoos, suburban back yards.
One of the big problem though isn't the lack of any kind of border, it's the fact that they can come here and are allowed to stay -- they can get food stamps, Medicaid just by having babies they can't afford -- why not deport them instead of giving them food stamps?
They can protest here, they're often caught drunk driving, shoplifting, and could be easily tossed out at that point -- but are not.
No one is going to object to fining the employers or better yet shutting them down. And certainly no one should object to the welfare mooching illegals being sent back.

It can be done. There lacks a will on the part of our government, however. It is a part of the solution. The other is to remove all incentives to even try to come here illegally.
This border fence and border security nonsense is just used by the pro illegals to divert attention from the real solution - which is simply to require e-verify and slap the crap out of employers who don't use it.
It really isn't a difficult problem, keeping the flow out. The problem is Dems want the votes and the Repubs want the labour.
Back to Cantor, his pasting is what I've been squeaking about forever. The Republicans cannot benefit from amnesty. It will alienate their own supporters and the illegals and Hispanics will always vote Democrat because the Democrats are associated with the freebies. All they will be doing is adding 20 million legal voters who will destroy their party in short order! Hopefully, this election gets the message across and showed them where the bread is really buttered.
The system is not broken, the laws are being ignored and enforcement is nonexistent. Obama has created an environment where an illegal who isn't a major criminal runs little risk of getting deported.

I agree with most of your post but the Democrats also like the cheap labor.
Both parties have morphed well beyond their original intent I think. I've been a Democrat my whole life and scarcely defend them anymore. Hopefully something will happen in the Democratic similar to what happened in the Republican party with the Tea Party.
