New York ends cooperation with feds on immigrant deportations

From the article:

"Mass deportation has not only pulled apart thousands of New York City families, it has also undermined public safety in our communities and imposed disproportionate penalties on immigrant parents and spouses who these families depend on for emotional and financial support," de Blasio said in a statement.

It's "pulls apart...families". No it doesn't---that's the fault of the illegals.

It has "undermined public safety in our communities"? Really? And how exactly is deporting illegals who have no business being here "undermining public safety"?

Because the claim is that illegal aliens won't come forward to report crimes/criminals when they have knowledge of them out of fear of deportation. Not to worry though Obama won't allow them to be deported unless they have been "convicted" criminals themselves. So we are supposed to allow them to remain here so that they can be snitches? Of course none of the illegal aliens are a public safety hazard though.

Well, where is the justice department? Don't they sue cities and states for interfering with the Fed's power to enforce immigration laws? Does New York City have the right under law to not cooperate with the Fed? Can we as a citizen shelter a criminal and not face consequences?
As far as the excuse that it pulls families apart? Hmmm overtime we send a convicted person to prison pulls families apart. Should we then not enforce any laws?
More political grandstanding by the left.

NYC has a history of conflict with the fed when it comes to immigration enforcement. Giuliani sued the fed in 1997 after Bill Clinton and the Republican congress passed a bill to require local jurisdictions to comply with immigration enforcement. One of the provisions was that legal immigrants were no longer eligible for federal safety nets. This is what Giuliani and his administration had an issue with.
