I hear over and over about how the illegal aliens in our country should go back to their home country and wait in line to come here legally like everyone else. That statement does not make any sense because if they did go home after being here illegally, why would the American government allow them to even be eligible to come back to the USA? They broke our laws by overstaying their VISA or sneaking across our border. They also likely broke our laws by stealing someones identity and using a fake social security number. Why would we let someone like this back in America ever?

What do you think about letting current illegal aliens in a line to become legal US Citizens-- when there are so many people overseas that have not committed a crime and want to come here that may be more beneficial to our society?

The way you’ll find the ones who have “committed” a crime are the ones who got caught, ran through the system, and so their name, alias, fingerprints, mugshot, are on file. You wont be able to tell the difference between the one that stayed home trying to get over legally and the one who was here illegally but never got caught for any crime.

Yes - they should "go home" and apply for access to the United States - just that those who follow the law do

And, just like every other country on the face of the planet requires

I agree those doing it correctly should be given the advantage when immigrating.

But the cat's out of the bag now, we can't physically deport 20 million illegals. But we can contact deport and start seizing assets and throwing employers in jail. If we do that the illegals will begin to self deport once they realize they will not be able to profit off of their crimes. Also we would need to have some sort of hotline where citizens can secure a reward for turning in an illegal and perhaps get a portion of the illegals assets seized.

All in all, it would have been much easier to have simply enforced our immigration laws aggressively. The laws are on the books. They just aren't being enforced.

NOT giving them a job, NOT giving them free services, and especially NOT giving the right to those who sneak cross the border only to give birth.. knowing thier baby will get automatic citizenship, Changing this law especially.. will reduce the numbers all on thier own. These two important issues, NO jobs, NO right to automatic citizenship if mother is NOT a legal citizen to begin with.. will make a huge difference in the totals. But these two major things HAVE to be nation-wide, otherwise there will be jumping from state to state. No hiring of illegals and NO automatic citizenship of baby's born here from illegal mothers should be a federal Nation-Wide Law. They are all aware.. it doesn't matter if they get pregnant IN mexico..getting here, giving birth will also insure them themselves not getting deported because of having children here, so the cycle continues. Passing these two important issues into a nation-wide law.. would not costs Americans by the way of tax dollars.. as would trying to round-up and deport, future welfare and education dollars (automatic citizenship) and so-on. So why not get these into a nation-wide federal law?

I think they need to return home if they want to apply for citizenship. And they should be behind everyone else who has been waiting, sometimes for years. As mentioned, we must punish employers, cut off the benefits and stop the anchor baby scam. The majority will leave on their own once they realize the gravy train has come to a halt. Most importantly, there must be NO POSSIBILITY OF AMNESTY. They need to understand there is only one way to become a US citizen and no exceptions will be made for them. And we will let people in according to OUR needs, not theirs.

Yes they should. Why should legal immigrants who respect our laws be penalized and illegals who don't respect the laws be rewarded?

There doesn't need to be any massive round-up -- with door-to-door searches but illegals should never be given citizenship or be given anything as a reward for having broken USA laws.

Leave them illegal -- that was the choise they made.

But also -- make it clear that if they ever want to pursue citizenship or legal status, they must return home and do it the right way this time, and that if caught working or living here illegally, it will be a criminal record that will make it impossible for them to attain citizenship ever.

What a lot of illegals do is wait in line.. in the U.S. They apply for citizenship, learn English here and use their Mexican address. If they are granted they go back to Mexico and hop on a plane and come back here. Sort of like "SAVE MY SPOT, BRB kthnks.

Many illegals did not intend to stay here forever when making the decision to come here illegally or overstay a visa -- it was just too easy to break the law. In fact -- easier to break the law than respect the law.

But -- also -- look at the illegal employers. If they follow the law, that means sponsoring an immigrant, taking some kind of financial responsibility for their immigrant. Papers to fill out, taxes to have to pay -- income, social security, and labor laws to have to follow -- including overtime pay and so on.

It's so much easier to bring in illegals. And there have been no consequences for breaking the law. They get away without having to pay in taxes, do not have to provide benefits like health insurance, they don't have to pay overtime or follow labor laws.
