Socialists and communists? I said something which points to either?
I think you've made a strange leap by assuming I've said something only you appear to comprehend, or something.
Try to read what I said, and don't interject whatever else comes into your mind.

I have sympathy for those who cannot control their lot in life,
......just as I stated it.
That statement doesn't have anything to do with socialism or communism.

I hear people saying that the 'people of Mexico' ought to take control of their country and make it better.
That's a sentiment, or an opinion, ...an ideal that, probably no one would disagree with.
But, to what end is it said? Will it happen? Can it really happen overnight and 'fix' some problem here?
Whether they can or not, whether their election process is uncorrupted, and could be 'taken control of', only adds another question.
I imagine, and I'm sure many will agree, that just like some other places, there's a status quo that will be hard to unseat.
That said, there are Mexicans trying to do that. I read about it all the time, Mexicans try to group together in attempts to change the status quo, and 'retake' their government.
I wish them luck. Until they are successful, and even after, we won't know if that will fix things to our satisfaction.
There's more to the problem than just telling Mexico to get their house in order......
.
...
Now, what about us? Why is our house not in order?
Why have we not 'taken control' and fixed our country?
I have sympathy for people who vote for elected officials who are fooled once by an elected official, if an elected official breaks his campaign promises and acts against the interests of the people that elected them, then I have sympathy for the person who got fooled.
I have no sympathy for those who re-elect those same politicians who make the same promises, but then again continue to break those promises and continue to act against the best interests of the voters.
When I look at voting patterns and who is continually re-elected, and who continues to re-elect them, I'm not surprised 'our house is not in order'.
Too many of us keep choosing not to put our house in order.
I've got no sympathy for people who choose to be oppressed, and if I look at the last 35 years of our election history, I can't help but deduce the American electorate has chosen what they have created.
Sorry, I've got no sympathy for an electorate that refuses to believe what's right in front of them.
I have no sympathy for people who continue to vote for what they complain about.
That's not 'accepting one's lot in life', that behavior is guaranteeing your lot in life won't change.
