BTW, getting back to Dolores Huerta, and ANOTHER tired refrain "75% of the world is people of color". Indeed. That is among the most inane comments around...it was VERY common back in the 60's, but I thought it had died a quiet death, from its sheer stupidity.

"PEOPLE of COLOR" is now an identifiable 'group'? How on EARTH did that come about? People of WHAT color? What people, exactly? Does anyone own a "People of Color" music album? Ever eaten a tasty "people of Color" dish?...or attended a "people of color" wedding or baptism?

Of COURSE there are People of Color. There are ALSO tall people, and right-handed people, and aggressive people....but how are they 'categories'? That HAS to be about the worst, most racist garbage I've heard in recent year--Thanks, Ms Huerta, for your BRILLIANT observation.

It's about as intelligent as saying "83% of the world's population is non-lettuce-eaters----and 40% of THOSE, have prominent eyebrows"...OK, fine. Now what possible MEANING do you attach to this garbage?

Perhaps Ms. Huerta is planning to put out a newsletter in the "people-of-color" language, which addresses their common "people-of-color" problems? Perhaps some "people NOT of color" should be concerned? Maybe try to sneak in to the next "Meeting of Color", and find out what they're up to?

To macmeal:

A dark skinned 'Anglo' is not a 'person of color' yet a Nordic White person from Argentina is, rhetorically speaking?

(I do agree 100% with your point though)

It does get tiresome. Just a few weeks ago, we went to Monrovia, CA to visit my wife's sister. (yes, she's a person of color). It seems that only a block away (where she USED to live 25 years ago), some gang-bangers (of color) shot to death a 16-year old girl (ALSO of color, but a DIFFERENT color) who was there from LA, visiting her dad. These gang-bangers (who were, as I said, 'of Color') apparently decided that the girl, though 'of color', was of the WRONG color....

It seems to me that the members of the "People of Color" category aren't really as united as Dolores Huerta seems to think. It's ALMOST like "People of Color" isn't even a real 'category' at ALL.....(but I don't want to sound 'grumpy')..

Yeppers:

I can just see a bunch of Black Hispanics getting into it with Mestizo Hispanics over 'race'.

But I also like hamburers and T bone steak. Chili and mashed potatoes.
I love the Old English Tudor style housing and I much prefer Rock and roll to line dancing or the spanish stomp.
Ballett,,,,,,,nope not that in touch with my inner self. and I love the guitar in the hand s of a Duane Eddy over a Ricardo Montalban.

Delores Del Rio was hot but Terri Garr was hotter.

John Wayne over Cheech and Chong? Are you kidding me? . I prefer Carlos Santana and Jimmy Hendrix (who is also part Mexican) over any other rock and roll musician.

Hendrix was part Cherokee Indian.

Mitt Romney; the former Republican Presidential candidate, is '1/2 Mexican'-----his father, George Romney, was born/raised in Chihuahua, Mx. George's parents were residents of the above country.

Find the 'Mexican' DNA sequence, the citizens of Mexico are as much a 'race' as us Americans.
