Instead of directly and immediately deporting illegal immigrants, let's charge them ridiculously high taxes. (laws, Mexico)

Let's double their tax rates.. if an equivalent American is paying a federal tax rate of 25%, the illegal pays 50%. If they're able to pay, they stay (but still remain under illegal status and continue to be charged the inflated tax rate.)
If they can't pay these taxes or evade them, THEN we deport them and send the unpaid tax bill to their country of citizenship.

How do you determine who's illegal and who isn't? No, illegal aliens must be deported as our laws state. No getting a pass for paying more taxes. Americans need their jobs back.
Simply trading one impossibility for another. We lack the ability to deport the existing illegals. Already it is reported half are off the books. It pays for both the illegal and the employer. What this would do is basically push all or almost all illegals to the dark side. A few would go home but many would simply drop from the reporting system.
Face it. The only workable way out is to get most of these to a legal state than gain control of the rest.
Something like 90% of all illegals that are set free with promises to appear later never show up. There's two things I think we should do:
1) if an illegal is on public assistance while trying to become a US citizen make them pay back all the welfare they used before they're allowed to become a citizen. This is what Switzerland does and they have very low immigration issues. They're earning the right to become a citizen and showing allegiance.
2) put a 40% tax on all money transfers that go to Mexico/ Central America/ China. Something like 30 billion untaxed dollars per year is wired to these countries from people working under the table.
If you look at the proposed bills for comprehensive immigration reform most of them include a requirement to pay back taxes. In some cases this requirement goes back 10-15 or more years.

Sure...only if American can endure the long hours and labor intense work.
Reform is amnesty once again. Paying back taxes does not justify getting a pass on the laws that they broke up to and including felony ID theft and/or tax evasion. Americans need their jobs back and we don't need this additional population continuing to deplete our natural and social resources. We need to start putting some teeth and respect back into the enforcement of our immigration laws.
