I live in the Phx area and we do have a definite problem with 'drop houses'------places where illegal immigrants once led across the border are held against their will till friends/family pay off the coyotes.

Nasty business all the way around.

And; the irony is that quite a few of the drop houses these days tend to be in more affluent------read that non barrio enclaves.

My friend lives down the street from a Chinese drop house. every now and then you see a white van parked in the driveway overnight, waiting to take some fresh Chinese immigrants to the San Gabriel Valley.

Even after somebody went to the house one day, knocked on the door and shot up the husband(The family was Chinese too) and pistol whipped the wife, traffic is still pretty good there.

Oh yeah, that was in a nice hood too. Nice newish two story houses and what not.
