Although everybody would like the immigrants to be educated who would be asset to US.
Just the opposite has been my experience in US despite having secure MSEE from US, and absolutely legal green card(through sponsorship by brother).
In my case those two documents have proved to be biggest mistakes I made in my life.
Those were completely ignored. The cops have been asserting that I should not live or work in this country and they have been trying to make that happen by force and hook or crook, without any court intervention at all. The allegation is that I make too many mistakes. They have indulged in so many illegal activities that my life has been turned upside down.
Needless to say not only they have questioned the credibility of US education and immigration document , they have even gone to the extent of punishing me.
Apparently many want to break the cycle of poverty by saving up enough money from their illegal deeds here to go back to Mexico to build a large house.
