Think tank condemns Arpaio's priorities...
Quote:
libertarian-leaning Goldwater Institute looked at many of the same facts Arpaio's critics have used to assail him in the past year and reached the same conclusion: the Sheriff's Office has out-of-whack priorities that jeopardize public safety.

Napolitano bludgeons border-fence proposal
Governor: 'Show me a 50-foot wall
and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder'

Quote:
The difference being the 'Rule of law' that illegal aliens have no sovereign rights in this land. Yet because current and many previous administrations have neglected their oath to the American people, we have seen massive growth of radical groups of people with no loyalty to this country. With a centralist view as governor she was one of the first politicians to call for deployment of the National Guard along the border and also declared a state of emergency in her state's counties nearest Mexico.Yet at the same time opposing the immigrant crackdown launched by the courageous Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and vetoing laws that would have denied state social services to illegal immigrants.

Politicians like Napolitano have either intentionally neglected to understand the difference between an legal Immigrant and an illegal alien.

National Ledger - Obama Nominates Arizona's Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security Chief
Quote:
Governor Napolitano vetoed what would have made the presence of illegal immigrants in Arizona a felony offense. She claims she was responding to the wishes of local police chiefs and sheriffs who want immigration arrests to remain the responsibility of the federal government. Apparently she never spoke with Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, who became a national hero for his policies fighting illegal immigration.

The bill Napolitano opposed would have expanded the state's trespassing law to let local authorities arrest illegal immigrants anywhere in Arizona, one of the country's busiest illegal entry points. The legislation passed through the state legislature but was summarily blocked by the Democrat governor.

Actually - he "got it back" through those donations (some from corporate donors) -

And the voters SOUNDLY returned Joe (and Andrew Thomas) to office to continue their fight

Plus - Napalitano fought for the employers sanctions bill - which is having a wonderful impact -

And - those bills she vetoed? We are getting a new Governor.

Napalitano is in the middle of the road...AKA..she is not going to make the crazies happy. She also vetoed a bill making it a felony to be in the country illegally. She is opposed to a border fence..read the links. They are from anti illegal immigrants websites.

Sheriff Joe and Thomas had their closest elections to date.

Napalitano is in a higher position now and she can really bring down the hammer on Joe if need be. Napalitano is the last person Good Ol' Joe wanted in that position.

And the crashing economy may have the illegals to prefer to deal with Sheriff Joe instead.

The reality is that attitudes are hardening against illegal immigrants and their enablers.

Napolitano is a level headed approach to border security. She has some tendency to lean a bit too far left than even myself a strong willed democrat. I hope that her track record on boarder secutrity improves. Perhaps with CIA and FBI information feeds at a national level she will learn many of the difficulties border patrols face. She will seek out a way to allow for rights to citizenship for leagal visa holding immagrants. Sherriff Joe is an arrogant man who does go too far. I would not use the term terrorize when it comes to his immigrant enforcement policy. However I would say that he flexes exihsting laws to meet his own ends. I feel he is inethical. He too is impatient and moves to take action out of dislike and publicity desire. We can hope that things will change for the better. Perhaps both of these individuals will move more to the middle over the comming years. Sherriff Joe may find himself checked by the Supreme Court of Arizona clarifying what smuggling means ( they coyote or the poor man trying to feed his kids ). Perhaps Napolitano will recruit stronger enforcers than she did for the state. Maybe she will work with President Obama to increase spending in homeland security and create programs that make citizenship requests more appealing than illeagal boarder crossing.

I love how Napolitano is praised in this thread by anti illegals and blasted in an other thread by anti illegals. Anyways, Joe will be exposed very soon. He signed on for his own reality show and there is no way that he will look good on TV...he is going to screw up and do something or say something...

Joe Supporters? how do you feel about Joe getting a reality TV show?
