So simple, even my 11 year old son could have figured it out.
1. Heavily fine and/or imprison anyone, individual or corporation, found to employ illegal aliens.
2. Cut off all but emergency (true emergency) services for illegal aliens and their anchor children.
3. Clarify and/or eliminate the Fourteenth Amendment--a misinterpretation so far from the intent of the original authors it would be laughable if it weren't so abominable.
4. Secure our borders. Enforce our current laws.
No impetus to be here and voila! Deportation through attrition.
Maybe your eleven year old son could figure out that I meant the people are split over the "how to decrease the numbers illegal" rather than "should we have illegals or not".

Maybe if you weren't so quick to find fault with everything I post, you would realize that any and all of the solutions I gave would decrease illegal immigrants with relatively little muss or fuss and had nothing whatsoever to do with "should we have illegals or not."
it seems like the anti-illegals are losing. the zealots on this board are a small minority.
if you ask me, the strategy to take is to expose the true cause of our failing economy. they can blame the illegals the way hitler blamed the jews. and they can argue that in this tough economy we shouldnt take on any more baggage, but id be suprised if it did in fact turn out to be that the illegals are the cause of our economic woes.
you guys have your work cut out. your best strategy is to prove this country cant handle the extra 12 million folks (even if costs are offset by the fines collected from them)
MLKs daughter aint the only one. Napolitano, Solis, Richardson, all newly appointed by obama, support a path to citizenship. you guys need some people in power to counteract them.
If you're implying the majority of citizens support a "path to legalization" as a ‘remedy’ for illegal immigration, you are barking up the wrong tree.
Most Americans support central elements of the legislation overhauling U.S. immigration laws the Senate shelved last week after it failed to gain sufficient support from lawmakers. A new Bloomberg/Los Angeles Times poll shows that at least a plurality of Americans backs the two most contentious provisions of the bill, a proposal to offer 12 million undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship and the creation of a guest- worker program. Of a third provision -- a point system for immigrants based on professional qualifications -- many say they don't have enough information to have an opinion.

With Obama in office, a sympathetic Cabinet and more Democrats in Congress, supporters hope to revive a reform package next year. But the economic downturn sparks worry about protecting U.S. workers.
I believe your celebration is a bit premature. Do you actually think our elected representatives would dare consider the desires of 20+ million illegal aliens over the survival of hundreds of millions of legal citizens? Get a grip on reality.
Furthermore, they must at least give the ‘appearance’ of fighting for amnesty to keep the illegals happy and hopeful. When will you realize amnesty would ruin everything for those who profit from illegal immigration? Put on your thinking cap. Why on earth would the greedy employers of illegal aliens EVER want their workforce to become legal citizens and thereby be forced to incur payroll tax liabilities, required insurances, and pay them a fair wage, benefits, etc. Illegals are ONLY preferred as long as they are exploitable, and they are only exploitable as long as they are illegal.
I’m sorry, but you are being duped if you believe for one moment the corporate elite and special interest groups would allow their gravy train to end. Illegal immigration is a lucrative enterprise, and too many people in high positions are reaping mega profits. Amnesty isn’t happening, but you are certainly entitled to believe.

Yep, this is real current.

WASHINGTON, Nov 10, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- A nationwide survey of actual voters reveals that Americans strongly support immigration enforcement, and that less than one-third of Obama voters favor granting amnesty to illegal aliens.
Among the key findings of the poll are:
-- Only 32% of Obama voters considered his support for amnesty as a factor
in their decisions to vote for him. 67% said it was either not a factor
at all, or they voted for Obama in spite of his stance on amnesty.
-- 60% of voters said reducing illegal immigration and cracking down on
employers who hire them is important to them, while only 21% supported
"legalizing or creating a pathway to citizenship" for illegal
aliens. -- 57% of voters stated that amnesty would harm American workers and
further strain public resources, while only 26% believe amnesty would
aid economic recovery and ease public burdens.
