However, I take issue with the “low teacher pay hurts score” part of the headline. A recent report showed that Denver Public Schools feature 85 languages from students from 105 countries. I know that Spanish speaking children in many DPS classrooms cause total breakdown in the learning process. You cannot expect illiterate to barely literate parents from foreign countries to prepare their kids for an education in a foreign tongue. Thus, low teacher pay cannot be an excuse or a reason for poor achievement. When you suffer language and cultural conflicts, you endure poor grades all around.
Well, with downtown Denver looking like Revolution av this doesn't surprise me at all. At least you can get a good taco now.
There is absolutely NO WAY these Illegals Aliens are self sustaining in downtown Denver. Downtown is about 50 miles from any ag center.
Enter the free social service puppets.
California, Illinois, Nevada, and Florida are also models of what happens when schools are over crowded and billions of tax dollars are wasted on ESL classes, breakfast and lunch for millions of children here illegally or are citizens by default, whose parents do not pay taxes to help subsidize the costs associated with education and social services. If I had a child in grade school whose education was being snuffed out because of any of the aforementioned reasons, I would be livid. Illegal aliens are breeding a future generation of illiterate, dysfunctional illegals and anchor babies, who like their parents will be a net zero in terms of any future continuance of American pride, values, culture, or successful global competition of any kind.
As the numbers of these interlopers grows, the systemic destruction of any form of future success for America as a country is rapidly approaching the need for life support.

We refuse to send our kids to the schools they could walk to because of the amount of ESL students being bused in from South of the 8 is so high the overall test scores for the entire school just sucks.
The concept of NCLB is great except when you add in a large population of kids that only hear English at school and not home. It's not fair for the rest of the students to have to learn at a snail's pace because of students that can't speak the language.

That is truly sad. My son was blessed to receive a scholarship at a very prestigious private high school. His school had a socially/ethnically diverse population of the best and brightest students from countries all over the world. They came from: China, Korea, Japan, England the Phillipines, Africa, and many others. Every single one of them spoke English. It was mandatory with no exceptions.
Then again none of them were from mexico or any part of latin america.
He is now a sophomore at SLU, majoring in economics.
My heart goes out to you and any other American who has children being cheated out of a quality education because of the presence of illegal aliens in their classrooms.
