If MacMeal won't sign for it, I will. I've got some really annoying neighbors who have kids with drums; have roos that eat my lawn and drunk Australians stumbling through my yard. However, I've heard it has holes in it and tunnels under it .. do I need to sign for these?

When I'm in bed with my wife, she keeps on moaning, border fence border fence, oh yes a bigger border fence.

Oh screw it -- I won't sign for it either.

I think a comprehensive border fence is an important long term goal. I would actually support making the border a militarized zone because the drug trade is becoming violent. We need more national guardsman and more border patrol agents first and then we need to focus on providing a pathway to citizenship for those here with serious financial penalties. Only after immigration is under control and we have begun the programs to deal with those who are already here, can we procede to build a high-technology comprehensive border fence.

We already have one it's called E-Verify and it has been deemed 99.5% accurate and effective.

It's obviously effective otherwise the US Chamber of Commerce, corporate crooks, and ethnocentric racists wouldn't be suing the US government to ban the use of it.

E-Verify is 99.5 percent accurate

E-Verify, a federal government program which allows employers to check the immigration status of new employees, has been improving and is now 99.5 percent accurate. The voluntary program is already screening more than ten percent of new hires nationally. As of September 13, E-Verify had processed 6.21 million queries.

The program is scheduled to expire on November 30, 2008 unless it is re-authorized by Congress. While the House of Representatives has already overwhelmingly passed a reauthorization bill, the Senate has not yet taken any action.

An evaluation by the Center for Immigration studies showed that:

• One-half of one percent of eligible employees screened had to take additional steps to obtain work authorization. The system is 99.5% accurate.

• More than 93 percent of employees are verified within five seconds; another 1.2 percent are verified within 24 hours.

And; what is wrong with Berlin Wall style of fortifications? Us Americans are sick and tired of the invasion by those insolent criminals----------to be polite.

Judging by your ZIP Code: you live in N Scottsdale which is far way from the illegal alien infested areas.

I am so right there with you. Nothing would be better than a Berlin styled wall. It would stop the illegals and the drug cartels dead in their tracks.

Yes, with provisions for wildlife safety (I'm not an expert and want certified naturalists in on this one) alongside provisions for emergency evacuation for both humans and animals if necessary. Natural disasters are part and parcel of living in the Southwest. This means official enforcement should stationed in close proximity.

My New Mexico grounds caretaker friend verifies the horrors that illegals DO (as opposed to the trek across the desert sob stories) i.e., they slash the throats of residents' dogs so they won't bark. I'm overtaxed in L.A. to pay for them here for services we citizens never receive, and longtime posters know of their dreadful impact upon my own life personally. Illegals badly impact all citizens, both born and naturalized. This ongoing wrong must end.

Oh yeah, I want the Border Fence to be completed. I live up close and personal to the El Paso/Juarez border and have since 1968. The illegal immigration and all that it brings has been devastating to our city.

NO! I want illegals to flood over into the United States. I believe that poorer countries need to burden the US government and society in order to not take responsibility for themselves and try to improve their country because they deserve something for simply being poor. In addition, with our economy in a recession and unemployment rising I see no problems whatsoever with having who knows how many more unemployed, non-US citizens in this country.

With drug-related violence on the rise in Mexican border cities I think that not having border fences will be a great opportunity for that problem to spill over into the US and therefore we must allow it to happen!

The best part is that no one will have any idea of whether the illegals are possible criminals, terrorists or potential troublemakers. We'll all just have to assume that they're all smiley, happy and loving people without any potential to create more problems. Remember, thinking beforehand is BAD! Let's just pretend that the world is oh so happy and lovely and that no potential problems could enter illegally into the US!!!
