Thank God we have the Minutemen. They said they would help guard the borders and that included both borders. Our southern border has the most crossing illegally. But there is a few at the northern borders. They are doing a respectful, selfless job, and we are proud of them. Two thumbs up!!!
Though most thinking people, I would imagine, would HAVE to support the Minutemen, at least IN PRINCIPLE, (After all, they're unarmed---what they're doing is legal----and they're never supposed to TOUCH anyone), the fact remains that the whole operation has a rather sad, pathetic quality to it. The Minutemen shouldn't even EXIST. They're doing the job that the "proper authorities", the ones who are SUPPOSED to be doing it, either WILL NOT, CAN NOT, or have been ORDERED NOT to. In that respect, the Minutemen are a bit like a frustrated "Neighborhood Watch" group, doing their best to maintain order in a neighborhood that "The Police" have abandoned.
If the Federal Government (whose agents and higher officials are PAID to do this job, and who have sworn an OATH to do it) was taking care of the problem, the Minute Men would get bored and go home.
Those who profess "anger" at the Minutemen, I believe, are of two groups...(1) Those with an agenda to actually WANT continuing illegal immigration, to whom the Minutemen are 'getting in the way'..or (2) Those who KNOW the Minutemen's REAL effect is one of "embarrassment". It should be EMBARRASSING to the 'authorities' that these volunteers HAVE anyone to "observe" at ALL. It's 'embarrasing' in the same way it would be if 'concerned citizens' had to fan out each night, "observing" burglars or drunk drivers. It makes "the law" look pretty ineffectual.

Would you consider the Hell's Angels to do the Job?, if not how'bout those skin heads?

Mac. your spot on with the embarrassment option.
I remember the extreme disgust that law enforcement here felt towards the concept of Neighborhood watch, Community Policing and C.O.P.'s.
Back in the 80's and 90's
Wannabes. vigilantes, crackers,
Us cops were up set that it was "shoved in our face" that we had failed.
We didn't like those groups. They were an embarrassment and a reminder that we had failed our core duty to protect.
We didn't want amateurs in the way...........and ya know something..
ITs still there to day we just use them now for selfish gain and nothing more.
You're REALLY reaching there, barinnas, you're liable to pull a muscle stretching that far.
Yeppers; I agree.
The Minutemen have quite a few 'people of color' as members------in fact; our Alanboy395 posted here on the open board that he admired the actions of the above group.
Yes; flying the Mexican flag during those inane illegal immigrant 'rights' protests 2 years ago backfired-------big time.
Would you consider the Hell's Angels to do the Job?, if not how'bout those skin heads?
No...these groups have a previously-acquired negative, violent image. I wouldn't want to think they 'represented' anything worthwhile. They've already demonstrated they're 'bad guys', and have the track record to prove it.
I'd just like to know how retired old men and women in lawn chairs with binoculars can be classified as 'vigilantes'...
