I feel as if I'm not supporting the American Dream, the opportunity for a better life.
Our country was built upon the foundation of opportunity for a new life where you can have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of demonstration. These rights are kept in place by the laws we have drawn out to protect them.
What can we expect to see in the future if our in-place laws are perpetually and repeatedly broken, and people in our nation actually support it? I don't understand at all. How can you break a major law knowingly and still have conscience to scream for handouts and special treatment? As it is, illegal immigrants have complete disregard for US laws, they drive without licenses or insurance, they don't pay taxes, and they undercut wages which directly affects the American citizen's job availability. They're usually poor people who move to our already crowded and quickly expanding ghettos forcing the expansion of the lower class even further, and they somehow collect welfare which is directly funded by the American citizen middle-class to support our less fortunate American Citizen brothers and sisters. They're even allowed to get a bank account and build CREDIT using this money without a SSN. I am literally paying my hard-earned money unwillingly to sustain the influx of unskilled workers who clog the streets I pay to maintain with their barely working vehicles bought from sales lots openly catering to illegal aliens using credit built on the money I paid to the state, no license, and no insurance; meaning if one of these illegals smashes into me because they're too busy wrangling their 5 unruly Citizen children they pumped out for more leverage, and my car gets mashed up and they run so they don't get arrested, I'm left with the bill. I'm becoming smothered and bombarded from every angle by a people who have dragged their old customs, culture, and language from home with them with no desire to integrate into the existing culture at all, instead expecting us to provide them with services suited to their needs.
Their Citizen children that I went to High School with (80% Mexican Heritage Students) are so Pro-Mexico, Anti-American it's sickening. Being a white male with red hair, every day was another day of heckling in a language I don't understand, and conversations held druing my ENGLISH 2 classroom between my Mexican-American teacher and the rest of the Spanish speaking class, while I sat and waited to continue my education, hopefully in the language that I speak and attended school to study. Even the Brazilian foreign exchange students knew better English. Virtually all gangs in my area consist of the mexican population. Every Fourth of July they'd drive their lo-riders with Mexican flags hanging off them blasting their ponch music and speaking in a language that's literally foreign to me, but I'll have to learn soon if I want to function, because now jobs are hiring bilinguals over English-only more and more often to offset the inability to communicate with their illegal or stubborn customers who refuse to learn the existing language.
Everywhere I look everything's either bilingual or in Spanish only. Most of the schools around here removed their options for foreign language classes to push people to learn Spanish. I drive through Burger King and have to place orders through an illegal-parented Citizen that speaks more Spanish than English even after passing high school, thus making communication between us difficult and irritating. While driving to the window to pay for my food, the three advertisements are displayed one English, two Spanish adverts. All state forms come in Spanish and English. I feel like I'm becoming a foreigner in my own country, alienated from a country that my family has been a part of since the Mayflower, that my ancestors have given their blood, sweat, tears, and lives to protect our families, land, and way of life.
Why would I want to support this? Why would I even consider letting this continue even a remote possibility? I don't have anything against Mexican people. I've made more than a few friends of Mexican heritage, granted they've all turned out to be multiple-generation Americans. Please though, if not out of respect for the people that have to accommodate you when you arrive, out of a desire for a welcome hello instead of a general disdain, come legally, work legally, be thankful you have this chance, and please, learn English so the existing residents of this thusfar tolerant and even accommodating country a chance to hold intelligible conversations with you.
I hate feeling this way. I don't like being angry with people, and I don't like feeling pressure of displacement from my home. If your Citizen children cannot even be civil, I have to expect further illegal-borne citizens will not, causing me to view you as unwelcome trespassers, if not invaders. I really feel that voting down proposals to make legal immigration faster, and cheaper, not within the bounds of upholding our founding principles. I MUST vote upholding and strengthening any laws that assist in the illegal crossing of the border to the country I contribute willingly to sustain and vote in to make my voice be heard. It's the only thing I know how to do.
In my opinion, it makes no less American, perhaps even more American because you care about your homeland.
Also, I'd previously thought there was a good reason all border security personnel carry at least a pistol and that they'd use them more often.
As a child I was terrified of getting out of the car before we were cleared to enter the U.S.
I heard that in the U.S., if you aim a water gun at a cop (and if they're not sure it's fake) they have the right to shoot you, so I thought it would be similar with people jumping the border.
I'll be honest with you. Anywhere in the US, yes, they would have the right to shoot you, which is why American children know better than to play with toy guns of any kind if there is a Policeman around.
Along the border, if they shot a kid with a toy, there would be a massive uproar from the mexican american community, and we'd be in a ****ton of trouble.

It's funny you say that because it happened here a couple of weeks ago and lulac is calling it a racist shooting. (not a toy gun, but a knife)
During the fifteenth century, the Europeans invaded the American continent, where the American lived. Then, the Europeans restricted the Americans in reserves. The Europeans-Americans became a majority on the continent, and the USA were created. The USA inhabitants started to call themselves Americans, calling the original Americans "Indians". Nowadays, the European-Americans permit themselves to prevent Americans from Mexico to come in what they consider like "their" territory.
Saying that the USA "was built upon the foundation of opportunity for a new life where you can have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of demonstration." is to deny the existence of long term slavery, and recent segregation.
Finally, what is to be considered as "a real American" ? certainly only the "indians" and their children.

Are you honestly serious? America is built upon a foundation of freedom, but to get that freedom you have to follow the rules, like the rules about getting in to the country legally. Also, I always have to wonder what they're saying when I see them in Wal-mart or whatever, and they sitting there talking in spanish. English is the majority language and they should have to learn it.
I know my history. What is being stated here is revisionist history, and I have no interest in twisted "truths". Unfortunately, this is what is being preached in the socialist government schools today, and will eventually be the ruination of our country. So many liberals/seculars look forward to that day, when the once great USA will be no more than a pushpin on the UN's bulletin board. We can all be global third worlders together, how equal of us!

My wife is an Indian..she thinks "native American" sounds silly, and only one of our daughters uses that term--when she's trying to sound 'sarcastic'. My wife's known prejudice, but seems to realize that that's pretty much universal..and meanwhile she's doing pretty well here putting up with "whitey" and his society. She's got no serious complaints.
Her Mom LOVED Yosemite. One day, "Mom" was musing about her beloved Yosemite Valley. She said, out loud.."Yosemite is SO beautiful. I wonder what it would be like, if the white people hadn't come, and brought all the roads and the traffic, and the tourists ?"....then, before we could answer her, she answered herself..with a laugh, she said "I would have probably never HEARD of it".
Was the arrival of the "white man" a good thing, or a bad thing?---probably a little bit of each...

For the record:
Basically a bigger, badder group of 'Indians' came along and conquered the indigenous population----------it happens all the time throughout the world.
Besides: the Navajo immigrated here about 1,000 years ago probably pushing out/subjugating the previous tribes---------yet, I don't hear squat about telling the Navajo to 'go home'.
I am not saying what happened was right; welcome to history. It cannot be undone.
As for the Mexicans; they are the product of the 'White' Spanish conquering the Aztec, etc.
I really feel that why the La Raza types want our Southwest is due to us Gringos builiding it up from nothing------yet, where is the strident rhetoric about Mexico wanting Guatemala, etc. back? They too broke away from Mexico after 1821.
And I will not touch on that Mexico could have lost their war of independence from Spain---------many Mexicans would have been executed.
This country was built with European ideals (freedom, separation of church and state, individuals seeking happiness) thus, the reason most people want to come here, or they wouldn't be flooding over our borders for "a better life".
At this point in the story, we are a sovereign nation, and we have laws. All countries have the right to say who's coming in to join the population, especially since WE pay for people who come in illegally, which we do.
My family has Native American blood, as many other people do, and the argument that all the "whites" took over is just not true. We are all a blend, one way or another.
