As a member of Congress, Kirsten Gillibrand voted in favor of penalties for "sanctuary cities" like New York that don't enforce immigration laws. But her ascension to the U.S. Senate has miraculously inspired a change of heart.
"In a lot of these issues, it’s a case of learning more and expanding my view," Ms. Gillibrand told the New York Times following a meeting with Latino political leaders.
Gillibrand's stance on immigration issues appears to have evolved considerably during her confab at the Brooklyn offices of El Diario, a leading Spanish language daily newspaper, which last week ran a headline declaring the upstate Democrat is anti-immigration.
Now the junior senator has not only backed of her sanctuary city stance, she's vowed to advocate pro-immigration legislation.
An illegalimmigrant is a person who moves to a different country on a long-term basis without the necessary approval from the host country's government.
Illegal immigrants are in some ways the lowest of the low in the modern world.
There is a difference between an ILLEGAL ALIEN and a LEGAL IMMIGRANT.
Blurring the lines does not change your status, nor the reality that our stance is against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and ALIENS.
What do you expect? The higher and higher one ascends politically, the more you are absorbed into the elite mentality; your past promises and values no longer matter. In short, they sell their souls to the devil. Not in a literal sense, but... Oh well, maybe they do sell their souls in a literal sense. Such a change of heart in her yearning for more power indicates a pretty soul-less individual.
And I'm not judging her harshly. Who knows if I were tempted by the same that I wouldn't sell my soul either?
On second thought, no I wouldn't. I've had the opportunity several times and turned it down.
