Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) has introduced the No Social Security for Illegal Immigrants Act of 2009. HR 2287 would prohibit wages earned while working illegally in this country from being credited towards Social Security benefits.

The Social Security system was designed to provide benefits for American workers and their families. Its intent was not to benefit those who break our immigration laws and labor laws.

To stop illegal immigration we must eliminate the jobs and benefits that attract new illegal aliens. This bill would amend the Social Security Act to "exclude from creditable wages and self-employment income wages earned for services by aliens illegally performed in the United States and self-employment income derived from a trade or business illegally conducted in the U.S."

Californians for Population Stabilization - ALERT! Legislation would eliminate Social Security benefits for illegal aliens!

It's a very important step. All rewards of this kind of behavior need to end. It's kind of hard to expect people to respect any of our laws when they are being very nicely rewarded every time they turn around for having broken them.

Some judge and/or the ACLU will overturn it if it passes. It's probably unconstitutional

Don't you just love it how judicial activism in any situation involving illegal aliens always protects the interests of the criminals over the interests of Americans?

Anyone who pays into the system for enough quarters can collect benefits. Or you are the surviving spouse of someone who paid in for enough quarters.

This is VERY important legislation. There is still a pending Totalization agreement with Mexico that allows illegal aliens to apply any wages that they earned in the US illegally towards their own social security, that is, if these illegals are ever amnestied. And of course these amnestied illegals would only have to work 8 QUARTERS (18 MONTHS) to qualify for US social security

With a legal Social number or tax id. Stolen identities shouldn't count.
