U.S. counterterrorism officials have authenticated a video by an al Qaeda recruiter threatening to smuggle a biological weapon into the United States via tunnels under the Mexico border, the latest sign of the terrorist group's determination to stage another mass-casualty attack on the U.S. homeland.

The video aired earlier this year as a recruitment tool makes clear that al Qaeda is looking to exploit weaknesses in U.S. border security and also is willing to ally itself with white militia groups or other anti-government entities interested in carrying out an attack inside the United States, according to counterterrorism officials interviewed by The Washington Times.

The officials, who spoke only on the condition they not be named because of the sensitive nature of their work, stressed that there is no credible information that al Qaeda has acquired the capabilities to carry out a mass biological attack although its members have clearly sought the expertise.

The video first aired by the Arabic news network Al Jazeera in February and later posted to several Web sites shows Kuwaiti dissident Abdullah al-Nafisi telling a room full of supporters in Bahrain that al Qaeda is casing the U.S. border with Mexico to assess how to send terrorists and weapons into the U.S.
EXCLUSIVE: Al Qaeda eyes bio attack from Mexico - Washington Times

Hooray for open borders, weak border security and illegal immigration.

Hopefully, if al-Qaeda does intend to truly go forward with this alleged attack, perhaps any illegal alien that al-Qaeda may send northward could receive amnesty and thrive in the country as well.

Hahaha... what a pathetic attempt at leveraging the fear of terrorism to advance a political agenda for closing the border.

Careful processing and a ZipLock bag can fool thousands of dollars of bio/chem weapon detection equipment. The only thing that border security will stop is illegal aliens and not-so-creative narcos.

If a large terrorist organization wants to come into the country with a bio/chem weapon they will. They need to keep doing what they are doing and infiltrating/spying on the suspected organizations to know what's being planned.

Huh. I wonder if building a giant wall would help.
Oh wait, they said they were going to smuggle the weapon through underground tunnels. Guess not.

Why would the hassle with all the security down south of the border? The North border is wide open they can just cross any where. Some of the original 911 guys came from Canada.

If anything the north border is much easier to penetrate than the south. Just like New Order said, some of the 911 terrorists came thru Canada, none through Mexico. Why? Because it makes no sense to try to come in from the South when the North is much easier.

Actually the northern borders is not much easier to penetrate. You've obviously never crossed it and don't know how it compares. It's easier to cross back and forth legally or otherwise from Mexico. I've been over both borders and there are more lines, longer lines going into and out of Canada.

Nice to see all the "Open Borders" advocates support leaving the Southern Border open and allowing Illegal Immigration from the Southern Border, BUT complain about the Northern Border although the fact is that MOST illegal Immigration comes from the Southern Border..

The fact is that we ALREADY have Terrorists entering this country from Mexico they are MS-13 and the Drug Cartels..

You consider securing our borders to be a “political agenda?” Incredible! Oh, that’s right. . . . if we secure our borders, illegal aliens won’t be able to enter. I can clearly understand your opposition.
