They should forfeit all federal funding.

Quote:
The San Francisco board of supervisors voted Tuesday to overturn a city policy that has been at the center of a national debate over offering illegal immigrants sanctuary.

“Sanctuary city was never designed to protect people who commit crimes,” said Nathan Ballard, a spokesman for Mr. Newsom.

But under the changes approved Tuesday, referrals would be required only after juveniles were convicted of crimes, instead of after their arrest. Immigration advocates say that referrals upon arrest have resulted in the deportation of innocent youths, the breakup of families, and a fear among immigrants of contacting the police when they are the victims of crime.

But Mr. Campos, the supervisor and a naturalized citizen who emigrated — illegally — from his native Guatemala when he was 14, said the vote to change Mr. Newsom’s policy was necessary to maintain the city’s reputation as a safe haven for illegal residents.

The breakup of the family starts when one of the Parents leaves their home Country to sneak illegally into the US.

Nice to see that the People's Republic of San Francisco is out to defend criminal illegal alien youth..

I agree.. Federal Funding to the city should stop but doubt that it will happen with the Pro-Amnesty peddlers dominating D.C. and the People's Republic of California.

I dont know what you mean, I know plenty of people in San Francisco who are middle class, who not just work there. They live there. What correlation do you find with illegal immigrants driving "true peoples" away?

I am referring to folks who make under $40K a year------------the whole Bay Area is overpriced hence it being infested with illegal aliens. Most Americans will not live in Third World conditions i.e. 2-3 families in a 1,200' house, etc. for the 'pleasure' of being near SF.

I used to live in San Mateo 30 years ago and I was making about $230-$280 a week after taxes which would equal over $700 today-----------yet an small apartment in a bad part of that same city was going for $490 a month back then ($1,400 in 2008).

That is ridiculous-----------that $700 a week today would buy a very decent house here in the Phx area ($1,000 a month mortgage) and still leave me with $$$ after my expenses.

I agree with the Mayor. The reason he changed it to upon arrest was the triple murder that occurred in June of 2008, which say was committed by Edwin Ramos, a gang member and an illegal immigrant from El Salvador. He had been picked up as a juvenile by the San Francisco police but not referred to immigration authorities. Then after being let go, he killed a Father and two of his sons on a narrow street in San Francisco. The Dad made the mistake of making eye contact which pissed off Edwin, so he killed them. Here is an example of a family that is broken up. This was a mistake that should never have happened and should never be allowed to happen again, even if it means deporting illegals and separating their families.

That's unfortunate but I have my doubts that deporting him would have definitely prevented the crime. It is likely he would've crossed right back over and continued his violent ways.

So in your opinion what is the solution to the problem then other than throwing up your arms in defeat?
