Most illegals really are not too bright and they see this as some kind of Aztlan thing which their leaders promote but I know an illegal who pretty much has it figured out. He is actually against an amnesty -- not that it matters what foreigners who are here illegally think about the issue, but he actually figures that his own job could be in jeopardy with millions more people coming to get in on amnesty and since he's from Mexico, he sees that others from other Central Americans could undermine his own wages. He says a Mexican requires a higher wage than someone from Honduras or Guatemala yet those people would gladly take his job and for lower money.
For the umpteenth time, we already have a legal process for the temporary employment of foreigners. IT DOESN’T WORK! The people who come here illegally are not interested in working temporarily and returning home. If so, half of the illegals would have left, especially given our current economic state.
The programs you incessantly espouse will only work if they are closely monitored by our government, and the workers have a modicum of integrity. You must understand that the illegals have NO regard for our laws. Therefore, they will not remain in compliance. When their visas expire, they will not leave.
I agree with you. My point is the system in canada does work and could work here. Our system which doesnt work needs to be changed. The aliens can hide in our system and jump from job to job with a differant ID every time they do. Not so in Canada. Our system is flawed and needs to be changed.
Romano L. Mazzoli was a Democratic representative from Kentucky and Alan K. Simpson was a Republican senator from Wyoming who chaired their respective immigration subcommittees in Congress. Their effort was assisted by the recommendations of the bipartisan Commission on Immigration Reform, chaired by Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, then President of Notre Dame University. The law criminalized the act of knowingly hiring an illegal immigrant and established financial and other penalties for those employing illegal aliens under the theory that low prospects for employment would reduce illegal immigration. It introduced the I-9 form to ensure that all employees presented documentary proof of their legal eligibility to accept employment in the United States.
It was never enforced, is the reasons we are in the pickle we are today.

I really feel sorry for all the law enforcement in this country that arrest illegal aliens for crimes and then see them back on the street! This must be very frustrating. Illegal aliens get away with things Americans don't, including collecting welfare and driving without insurance. When they get caught or get in an accident they just walk away with no consequences and create a new identity.
It really makes me sick to think how they are taking advantage of our hard work and the federal government is just refusing to protect the public!
If the government truly wanted to it could deport as many illegal aliens as it wanted and in short order. The government has the resources, but unfortunately not the will. If the citizens have the will, and elect representatives that want to deport illegal aliens, it can and will happen. It may take awhile to do so, but it can be done. World War II was not practical or popular either, but we still went through with it to defend our country and to do what was right.
We seem to move hundreds of thousand troops all over the globe, so why is it not feasible to remove illegals?
My thought is that they got here by foot or by coyotes so why not pay the coyotes to take them home or they could walk as well.
The other thought is if we can't send them home, do we just keep them here unemployed and starve them to death? That seems brutal.
No doubt, our government could remove them if they had the will. If our laws were being enforced they would self-deport. Why would they choose to remain here without any means for survival? We need to end ALL freebies, and make it impossible for them to work.

I so not reason why we 'can't' send a bunch of illegal aliens home barring a full on civil war in Mexico (the biggest source of illegals). And; if such were occurring---------simply place said illegals in internment camps for the duration.
