I am a Democrat. Below is why I bother.
"I stumbled on this blog by way of a comment on Boston.com . My observation is this: Directing your hatred and frustations towards a certain group of people is easy to do, looking in the the mirror and admitting that the problem lies within is much harder. Is illegal immigration an issue? Yes indeed. Is it worth the time and effort of one individual from Revere MA who is in the construction industry, an industry that exploits illegals everyday, to blog about it? No. You are fighting a losing battle, and you are a very small player in a field of giants. Amnesty will pass and the country will be better off. Then you'll probably wish you hadn't spent hours blogging about it. AMERICA IS A COUNTRY BUILT BY IMMIGRANTS, MANY OF THE IRISH & ITALIAN WHO IMMIGRATED HERE IN THE EARLY 1900'S WERE ILLEGAL. THEY BECAME AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE NATION'S WELL BEING. This blog is full of hypocrites! NEWSFLASH: There are illegal immigrants who are fighting US wars abroad for the promise of a Green Card, they fight for America! TOO MANY HYPOCRITES ON THIS BLOG! Stop watching FoxNews, stop drinking the KoolAid!"
I doubt amnesty will pass. Over 60% of US citizens are against it. Add to this our unemployment rate is over 10% and not looking like it will get much better anytime soon. The democrats are starting to feel the heat. Congress enjoys an 18% approval rating and the fickle voter just might fire them.
The heathcare bill does not have the support the DNC envisioned and immigration is a much hotter topic.

The Irish, Italians or basically any of the European immigrants you speak of contributed to are country just like Asians and east Indians are doing now. They didn't take away from it like the Mexicans do. How many Mexicans come over here illegally and become doctors or engineers. We have enough ditch diggers already. because of people that think the way you do states like California and Oregon are in absolute economic chaos right now. WAKE THE $%#@ UP!

Let's not forget that many of the immigrants you mention had to come to this country through ports; they could be accepted or turned away by immigration officials as such places as Ellis Island and Castle Garden in NY. They were scrutinized -- asked who was here for them, where they would be living, queried as to the money they did/didn't have, job/career, had health exams, etc.
We don't have that same option with illegals sneaking across the border.

Can we get a link or something? Let me make sure I got this right: One second they are saying that it is important, the next second they are saying don't blog about it and then they start typing in all caps as if to scream, "Get over it." And no, they don't always "fight for America," as the author tries to say, they are doing it for a path for citizenship. Wanting citizenship in this country doesn't always mean you are loyal or something as people try to make the point of when they bring up illegal immigrants being in the US military. I mean, some people who were born here only join the military for education and income, nothing wrong with that, but these pro-illegal immigrant groups are trying to play this service off as showing some loyalty to the US.
