I have to agree with many here. It's probably just a bunch of words. This is the same president whoes first action as president was to give free health care to the children of illegal immigrants.
Bingo you just won. With your last statement, he was going to give free health care to those children of illegal immogrants. I remembe well.
Who kno9w what Obama is gpoing to say tomorrow. he was just changing to the populatist voters voice. He said just the opposite in the campaign. But he feels safe now because he knws there is no way it getting on the floor unless Pelosi has lose her mind. especailly after the last time it was voted on. Bascially trhis is a no win issue with both partiesd as far as bring it to the floor esapcially now. The congress has enought poeple discussed with them now and they rememebr the backlash when they brought it to the floor last time. What that resulkts in was funding for the border fence that had not been funded since the 80's bill passed authorizsing it.

Pelosi is fighting for her (political) life IMHO. She will throw the pro amnesty types under the bus to save her own skin. Ruben Navarette; ths columnist, is fast switching sides as well.

So is Luis Gutierrez. He's conceding that now is probably 'not the right time' for a comprehensive immigration bill. These people have pandered to the Hispanics hoping to gain their votes, but they all know the majority of voters are against amnesty, so they're trying to clean up their act before the election.
Don't trust them though. Remember the old Native American saying about speaking with a forked tongue.

You are correct. I fully expect the pro-amnesty politicians to change or curtail their position on it this year because they know it isn't popular and they want to save their own hides with the upcoming elections. Just as soon or if they are re-elected they will go right back to their pro-amnesty stance regardless of what condition are economy is in then. As you said, I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. If they held this pro-amnesty position at any time during their careers we need to throw the bums out.

Yeppers: Pelosi et al know they will be forked come November---------especially with the sudden election of a Republican in Mass to replace Kennedy
