Before people start to label Arizona as being a bigoted state, try to understand that it was the politicians not the people who created this law. Arizona's people are now taking matters into their own hands and trying to end this law.
A group calling itself One Arizona filed petitions with the state Wednesday to refer Arizona's to the November ballot. It's the second referendum drive announced this week.
One Arizona chairman Andrew Chavez, who runs a petition-circulation company, said the groups want voters to overturn Bill 1070.
I don't live in Arizona. I don't think AZ is bigoted for taking action about illegal aliens. I also will not be railing against you petitioning your own government to end this law. Do as you see fit. I can only say that I hope we can as a nation get the federal government to take this issue seriously (after the 20 other fires are put out) to effectively manage 30yrs of heaped up neglect. It's harmful to all equally and costs far more than dollars. It costs us good will relations and stable communities.
Yeah. I am brown and I don't get why protecting yourself from illegals, especially when they have brought so much crime and resource burden to your state (not to mention ridiculous tort) is racist.

Arizona is home to some of the toughest prison sentencing laws in the country, and one of the cleanest campaign finance laws, too. Voters overwhelmingly re-elected Janet Napolitano, a Democrat, as governor the same year they returned the conservative senator Jon Kyl to Washington. The current Republican governor signed this law, but is also pushing for a tax increase.
Further, while Arizona may seem on the fringe with its immigration law, the measure mirrors the 1994 battle in California over a voter-approved law that Gov. Pete Wilson signed barring illegal immigrants from getting health care, public education and other services. Like California then, Arizona is taking its own tack instead of waiting on the federal government to change policies.

Well......the group "Many Arizona" had better get to work then......so as to SQUASH "One Arizona's" attempts to overturn this most wonderful piece of legislation.....that has offended some ONE in AZ!
