I know my little part doesn't mean much to them and it doesn't impact my life choices much. So I don't buy Cliff Bars (Berkeley) anymore. Oh well. Balance bars taste pretty good. Sorry Blue Diamond, I'll be skipping on almonds and go back to our locally grown pecans for my nut fix. Think the last movie I saw in a theater was over 5 years ago. Didn't need to see Hollywood's social and political points of view on the big screen nor their hatred of the US Military. So Hollywood isn't getting my money either.
Here are a few others outside LA:
Avery Dennison Never heard of
Boeing Airline industry is too horrible to even consider anymore
Dole Foods We buy generic versions
Kaiser Don't use
KB Homes never heard of
Nestle We only buy their products in the winter.
Shakey's Pizza From Shakey's to Sony, we don't buy with the exception of Disney. Wife's choice on Disney.
Hilton Hotels
Disney
Paramount
Universal
Warner Brothers
Countrywide Financial Corporation
Belkin
National Public Radio
Sony
DirecTv This one hits close to home since we've been a customer of them for years. I'll have to look into this one. I could easily cut the dish, but the wife and father-in-law have come to rely on the dish since both are frequently restricted to the home due to illness, disability, and strong medication. Without the dish, they'd go nuts. Local cable is expensive to get the same channels.
Mattel
I never listen to NPR. Don't want to fall asleep while driving.

I wonder what inbred muppets made that list. Maybe the same kind who can't grasp the concept that laws have to be Constitutional as well as effective.
Boeing is not headquartered in LA; it is headquartered in Chicago. NPR is sure as hell not headquartered in LA; it's in Washington, DC. Sony would obviously be headquartered in Japan. I could go on...
As far as the San Francisco Bay area goes, we have just about the entire modern internet world here with companies such as Adobe, Yahoo, Google, Apple, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Symantec, Flickr, Yelp, Cisco, Netapp, BitTorrent, Saleforce.com, AMD, Intel, Adaptech, Logitech, and Seagate Tech just to name a few.
Also major consumer companies like GAP, Levi's, Del Monte.
And also major pharma wholesalers like McKesson and Genentech (now part of Roche), one of the most successful biotechs in the world.
Not to mention that this is one of the most vibrant venture capital banking regions on the planet.
So if you guys wanna boycott San Fran, it's easy: just don't buy anything Levi's or GAP/BR/Old Navy, don't get medications if you have cancer, and don't use the internet!

I quit buying Levi's years ago. I can honestly say I never set foot in GAP/BR/Old Navy. Don't have cancer. I use local internet provider and about the only ones on your list I use are Adobe (work related), Yahoo (packaged with internet provider), and that's it, nothing else on your list.

Sounds like you're not very technologically savvy. You know when you go on websites and pictures and stuff comes up? Animations and video and all that? Pretty much all done with and developed from Bay area technology (ever heard of Flash)? And what kind of a processor do you have in your computer? Good chance that your router comes from Cisco... So every time you turn on and log on, you're supporting the Bay area. Thanks!
