Hi all, my husband is getting offered a promotion in Peoria soon. We will be moving from Chicago, and I am wondering about job options. I am in the social service field currently, and am looking to move into a Human Resources or Business field. I have not had much luck with the search engines I typically use for finding jobs. Any thoughts/ideas on what the market is like in Peoria? Will I have a hard time finding a job?

Thank you in advance for any help/suggestions!

Default General thoughts

Other than Trader Joe's and Apple you should find many of familiar stores like Akdi; and Krogers and Kohls. There's a dozen grocers, two malls, International Market, natural food store, fish market, meat market, a couple of deli's and a half-dozen shopping centers. Costco breaks ground this year.
You can also find a furrier, upscale dining, country clubs and a business club where the movers and shakers meet.
.
There is over 100 restaurants including Chicago Pizza and Steak 'n Shake. You'll find perperforming arts, visual arts, and holistic arts, Peoria Players theater and Cornstock Theater in the round in the summer. It's the nation's 4th oldest. There is also large parks for biking, hiking, walking and running, a state-of-art fitness center on the riverfront, zoo, river cruises, etc,,

One of the largest employer's in the area is OSF. The only children's hospital in Illinois that treats more children Peoria is in Chicago. Peoria has 4 hospitals and a medical school. OSF has many seperate facilities and services from research to hospice. Peoria has several retirement homes and churches who offer outside facilities and services too. There are several Human Service groups in Peoria.

The Peoria Journal Star online usually has a scrolling jobs list that seems to be very up-to-date.

There are some very nice areas to live in and around Peoria.

I've looked at the Peoria Star, but I think it just linked me to Monster for jobs and unfortunately I've already looked there without much luck....

Go to the bottom on the right side the page to Top Jobs. Cilck on + View all. If there is a job available the particulars will be listed with a Peoria address and perhaps a phone number. No Monster Jobs here. It does not leave the PJS site. There may be national ads, but generally they are loal ot eh Peoria area. Do not exit this page until you are done looking. Instead keep clicking +View All. It will close the current page and reload the list.

Netflix downloads too. Move your webpage around and X it.

Try this too. I've had some good luck here. There is a ton of properties to manage in Peoria, too.

Peoria, IL jobs at DuckDuckGo

This will give you a flavor of the general area. Peoria is a river town and not as uber conservative as some of te other areas.

Pekin is closer to Peoria than Bloominton but they both take about the same to drive.

Pantagraph is the last locallly owned paper left in the area.

peoriahelpwanted.com is another big one for the Peoria area, although it tends to list more of the mundane, factory or entry-level jobs.

There are plenty of larger employers in the Peoria area - they don't always list their open positions on-line. Many of them are related to CAT (suppliers) or medical related.

Thank you so much for the help so far! I was able to find the list on peoria star.

I will start looking through the other websites too.

Do the companies in Peoria use other ways of listing their employment if I can't find it online? Would it be wise to find a listing of the main companies there and call the human resource department of each?

I've literally been spending 4 hours a day looking for a job there for the past 3 days and I've maybe come across 5-6 options and I'm starting to get very discouraged. I've noticed a lot of factory and manufacturing jobs, but that is not something I am interestred in.
