I used to live in Ottawa in the 70's. Kind of a broad question but what is happening there? Is it growing? Do people still boat a lot on the Illinois River. Has the South side grown much.

What are the best restaurants now? Any other info. would be great.

Thanks!

My fiance is from Ottawa and I love going there. Her family still lives on the South side. I do not know how built up it was in the 70's so I have no how much it has grown since then, but they just rebuilt Central School on the south side after the original one flooded.

From what I have gathered from family conversations The town population has remained pretty stable, without any sharp change one way or another.

Restaurants? My favorite is Bianchi's. New Chalet on the south side is catering our wedding. When we went to do some taste testing I really enjoyed the food.

I visit there every now and again if I want to go on a nice run by Starved Rock. Went boating there last summer and there was a lot of boaters out.

We used to have a boat that we kept at a dock in the marina under the old Ottawa bridge. It was called Santacula or something like that. It had a small resturant also. Lots of fun "back in the day".

Thanks alll for the info.!
