Most of this is old news. It will be difficult to stop a deal the Forest Service wants. FS does not justify a need to sell to the public.

SoIL is rattlesnake heaven. The national forest is a haven for meth labs.

As for strip mining central Illinois near Canton? Yawn. Coal company did that 40-years ago.

Mining upstream of CanNature ton Lake may or may not be an issue. What this company should be forced to do is create a Nature Park and Preserve with walking, hiking, and jogging trails over every inch of ground they disturb. They could look at Urbana's parks for inspiration and visual interest. Hopefully the cost to clean up the mess and creat a park wouild be a deterrent. The real downside is the noise will disrupt mating and nesting, and chase the fowl and wildlife elsewhere for several years. It would not be the first time, either.
