In what poor addled mind does th idea of winter wear consist of sweater and a sleeveless vest? Anyone who has lived in the northern Midwest for any length of time knows that is not considered winter attire anymore than a bikini and flip-flops.

I agree.....but try telling that to a teenager. I refused to wear a hat or gloves or button my coat until I was out of high school. Mantra of this a.m. "I'm feeling like you should reconsider that vest tomorrow.....check the Tribune." (she said tactfully....).

Well, j33, during Christmas time you couldve gotten away with a sweater and sleeveless vest, but not this week. Ive been wearing my snowboarding coat the last few days instead of my pea coat. Everyone at my work knows its cold when I have to bust out the snowboarding coat. lol

On a side note, tomorrows high of 35 is gonna feel warm. haha Then come Saturday the big ol' arctic wolves will sink their teeth into Chicago and plunge us into single digit highs. I stepped out for a smoke last night about 11pm and couldnt get over how crystal clear the skies were, I could see every dimple on the moon in perfect detail. It wouldve been a great night to be up in the Hancock, visibility was perfect.

Steve-o - I'm not going to get into a Chicago weather argument with you. I simply was stating that it is (or should be) understood that when it gets cold in the northern midwest, a vest and a sweater is not going to cut it.

I wasnt trying to argue. Why do you perceive everything I say to be an argument? I was just saying that around Christmas (and last week too), it was warm enough for just a sweater. Chill.

I agree 100% that when winter comes, a sweater and vest will NOT be warm enough most of the time.

Yeah, that kind of cold bites right through the clothes. Bundle up and youll be fine. Ive hiked in that weather, its actually kind of fun taking the challenge. Kinda like hiking in the desert in summer, just reverse the seasons.
