ST. CHARLES, Ill. - There will be no indoor smoking at a large convention for pipe smokers in Illinois.

A new Illinois law bans smoking in public places. That's taken some of the steam out of this weekend's Chicagoland International Pipe & Tobacciana Show in St. Charles.

Not allowing pipe smoking at a pipe smoking convention is ludicrous.
Hopefully next year the organizers will put it just over the border in Iowa,Indiana, or Wisconsin. Screw Illinois.

Yeah, you would think all the people attending would be smokers.
What a bum deal. Some stuffed shirt peed on the parade.

A perfect illustration of the absolutely stupid inflexibility of this law and unwillingness of the Smoke Nazis to allow even a bare hint of compromise.

If there's any solace, it's that a lot of district attorneys are refusing to enforce it on the grounds of vagueness and overbreadth.

That's a little ridiculous.

But if absolutely necessary could they not move it to another state? If Illinois doesn't want to allow a pipe smoking convention to smoke, then why do they need the revenue from the convention, the hotels, the dining, whatever.

That's just dumb.

Like move it to your fine state or others. I fully agree. Stick it to the pols.
