It seems like most people recommend the city for singles, but, unfortunatley, my position may be in tinley park. Are there many young people (beside families) in tinley park or Orland Park? Would you recommend any other surrounding suburbs that might have more of a social scene. I'm not lookin for bars, but more culture, live music or summer concert series, unique restauraunts, historic districts, close to the rail etc.

Thanks again for all your help!

Consider Lockport. It's on the canal, has a lovely old downtown that is filling up with nice clubs and restaurants. Like most 'burbs, it is primarily family oriented, but is younger than most. It is also still relatively affordable.

Most suburbs have a lot to do, young people, and everything you asked about--so no worries there. Tinley Park is home to a large venue (that has changed names so many times I can't keep up) where major music names come in for concerts and most of us in the city go there for that. Orland is fine as is Frankfort.

Right out of college I lived in the burbs for almost three years and loved it. But simply love the city more. You will do fine in the burbs, just need to get out to meet people...gym, church, social group, etc., otherwise you won't meet people as easily.
