Well, it's reputation at any rate. Thanks to our governor caving on the admissions scandal. It really doesn't matter if the remaining two trustees didn't accept payoffs. Part of their responsibility should have been to notice that this was going on. We used to have one of the top universities in the nation (at least as far as public schools go) and I didn't expect it to be mired in the state swamp of corruption. Now it's reputation is gone. Who knows what a 4.0 GPA from U of I means now. Maybe the student earned it, or maybe they payed someone off. And all of the research done at the university is meaningless. Who knows who was paid off to achieve a particular result. Yet another blow to a struggling state, one worse off by many measures then most others. Thanks Gov. Quinn!

The Daley Dozen and its Daily unDoings are far more interesting than some little hick school in southern Illinois. Yawn...

It is old news, anyway, and Kelly's demise is fresh fodder and a lot more interesting.

Doesn't mean UIUC doesn't still have some of the highest ranked MS and PhD programs in the country in fields like engineering, chemistry, library sciences, etc. It's still a good school; however, for a lot of people, and undergraduate degree is just that: an undergraduate degree. It can be obtained anywhere from Harvard to places like po-dunk nowheresville state university--it still doesn't guarantee you a job.

Talk about an overreaction. UI is still one of the best universities in the country and will continue to attract great profs, research money, and great students.

UI also has a backbone. It ain't goin' nowhere very soon or very fast. Having a Kennedy on board certainly does not hurt, either.

I go to UIUC, and yeah, despite the scandals, the school isn't going into the dumps.
I don't feel as if my degree's importance has plummeted into the trash, and after four years, I'm still glad I went here and not anywhere else!

U of I has shown that they are willing to sacrifice academic integrity for cash. Can you prove that you earned your degree and your grades, and didn't just pay for them?

Oh god shaddup. The scandal was in ADMISSIONS, not academics. No student has to prove anything to anybody regarding how they got their grades at the University.
