1. Single moms feel very scared to live in Richmond
2. For such a small city, (smaller than Columbus, Indiana) There is a lot of street and selling action.
3. The town is full of white trash and lazy people.
4. Everything to do in Richmond is on the far East side which nobody lives by, so if you are poor and can't afford a car, (like almost everybody in Richmond), you have to walk an hour and a half to go to the mall or take a 30 minute bus ride that should only take 10 minutes.
5. The people are full of themselves and their accomplishments, but they hate the town.
6. There is a very neat area in Richmond called the Historic Depot district, but is overpassed by US 27 and many passerbys don't know about it.
7. Indiana Football Hall of fame is on the corner of North 9th and North A streets in downtown.
8. All the streets are the same name. North A, South A, North 9th, South 9th, NW 5th, SW5th, NW E, SW E, you get the point. The only others are National Road, Chester Blvd, and Williamsburg Pike, or so it seems that way.
9. THERE ARE NO JOBS.
10. There is not a town this size or bigger around us for about 50 miles, and the town can hardly support itself with no neighbors around, unlike Columbus and Bloomington, cough cough.

Im not hating on Richmond, It has potential to be a great city with I-70, but I-70 also attracted all the business's to the 4 I-70 Richmond exits. partally because it is the rest stop between Dayton and Indianapolis, but there are also tons of abandoned homes and old business's scattered all around the inner parts of Richmond. Heck, the town once had 52,000 people at its peek point. but now it only has 36,000. There was a downtown explosion in 1962, but I know that is not the problem everybody around here likes to say it is. THE TOWN IS FULL OF PEOPLE WITH EXCUSES.

Very true post, not hating, just reality. The problem with Richmond is its people, and that, it will never be able to overcome. Too much trash, numbers growing every day. No amount of refurbishing in the depo district, and marketing by the city, will change the people around Richmond that keep it trashy.

As of the summer of 2012, Richmond had 2,500 empty homes, ranging from on-the-market to slated-for-demolition.

On April, 23, 2013, Wayne Co. Coroner Ron Stevens was quoted in the Palladium-Item as telling commissioners that Richmond had a third highest ranking of per capita murders in the U.S. for 2012.
