Need help with vehicle title (insurance, office, residency)

Have jeep from Canada here in Indiana I have registration but I need to title it here in Indiana. I have no import records ,the people who drove it here left it with me and said i could have it. help

The BMV will want this:

To title your vehicle you must present the title to the vehicle, your valid Indiana driver's license, and documents proving your current insurance, your Indiana residency, and your Social Security number or your Federal Employer Identification number.


If there is no such thing as a title in Canada, then call the BMV and ask them what they will need. That being said, you must get this vehicle plated in Indiana within a certain time frame. If it gets towed, the officer will log it under the registered owner's name and it will make it hard to get out of impound.

I'm confused how you have a registration without a title. You need the title to get the registration the first time.
