I am thinking of relocating to around the Telly City area, possibly Jasper, Lexington, Corydon. These are all fairly small towns, which is what I am after. I am just concerned about crime in these areas, it looks like Tell City has experienced alot of thefts. Is anyone familiar with these areas, whats it like in general? Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

Jasper is twice the size of Tell City, I've never heard Jasper referred to as being in the Tell City area. If anything, Tell City is in the Jasper area.

Anyway - this thread about Jasper might be helpful if no one pops into this one:

I lived in Tell City back in the early 80's ha -- it's more working class then Corydon/ Jasper. Of all the areas you mentioned, Jasper is the prettiest, more affluent.

Cool Robberies in Tell City

That's two robberies in three weeks.
One a year is unusual.

Sorry about the double post.
I wanted to subscribe to the thread.

I have lived in the Tell City area (Perry County) since 1964.
We do a lot of our shopping in Jasper so I see both places.
I would vote for Jasper for you.
It is more calm and clean.

I've only driven thru Tell City, around the year of 2005, on a Saturday around 11am in October, and my opinion of it is for a small town, it felt very cramped and congested. It seems much longer than it is wide, with the Ohio River on one side, and all the businesses and traffic on the other side sitting on a bluff, with not much room to breathe. Not much else was there and I was glad to get out of the town and back into the country.

Unless you have a job lined up where you make lots of money, if I was you, I'd visit the town for a few days and then think long and hard before moving there. The small towns north of there in the Hoosier National Forest seemed much nicer and more pleasant than Tell City.

Like I said, I only drove Tell City, but I seen nothing that made me want to stay any longer than it took to drive thru town. I think it's one of those towns you would need to be from in order to truly appreciate it and enjoy it.

The most positive thing I can say about my 10 minutes in Tell City, is the girl at the Wendy's drive thru on the main street was very nice and polite. A real credit to her town.
