A lot of minority (actually many of their professionals) professionals who work for Lilly, live in Carmel or Zionsville. Lilly does some outsourcing to India. We met a Burmese professor who just bought a house between the two areas and she was telling us of the background of her neighbors and it is really a melting pot. We attended a large Chinese celebration of their New Year. Held at the Carmel High School and well attended by the local Chinese. Very large group.

I think you will find a large Indian population due to the corporate culture and universities located here. There is an Indian Cultural Center and many !!restaurants and several indian grocery stores.

As a long time Indiana resident, it might be a disappointment from Walnut Creek but if you enjoy the slower pace of life and can get involved in groups you enjoy, it is a great place to live. We get the touring Broadway companies and have wonderful museums. Good universities for the kids.

The airport has abundant flights to anywhere so you have access if you want to get out of town. Chicago is 3 hours away, St. Louis is 5 and Cincinnati is less than 2.

On the north side are the "high end stores" like Crate and Barrel, Sachs, Cheesecake Factory, bookstores, Trader Joes, Wild Oats, Whole Foods coming, etc. A new art film theater. Houses cost anything from $150,000 to the most expensive in the state (for sale I think).

I dont know much about them but there are some outstanding private schools also.

Welcome.

Public schools are outstanding in both and you would probably be happy in either place. The International School of Indiana is in between Carmel & Z-ville and Park Tudor is also not far away (if you want to ponder private education).

Diversity ... You can look here for the demos:
