You will find good places to live in all 3 cities on the north side of the river. Are there specific reasons you are choosing to live in Indiana vs Kentucky ?

I was looking at IN because I was told rentals are cheaper than KY.

There are nice places in any 3 of the small cities across from Louisville. Rent and car insurance is quite a bit cheaper than KY side. If you commuted to KY side you would likely pay a bridge toll. There are no dangerous neighborhoods on IN side though there are gritty work class areas.
