I cannot speak for anyone but myself- but I can speak to the fact that everyone we have met- from the people in the neighborhood, to the clerks in the grocery store to people walking down the street have been very welcoming and friendly. I can also say that we welcome fellow transplants ;-)

Default Would we fit in

Thanks for the reply. We are librarian/social worker couple who grew up in (me) N.C. and (her) Wisconsin.
We are used to small town friendliness and want to go to where there is less urban sprawl, congestion, etc.
We are considering La Crossse Wisconsin and Madison. Will visit next summer.
Since we are both approaching retirement age, I guess our sexual orientation is not such a big deal.
Also it is just one aspect of overall who we are.

Default Hey domergurl

Good to meet another librarian!
I was a public librarian for awhile but for 20 yrs have been managing a law firm library in NYC.
Just went to SLA in Denver. Really beautiful out there.

I'm not anymore. I was a law librarian in Chicago and then taught law school. But technically, my masters will always say I'm a librarian ...

Thanks domergurl.

I worked at the Ivy Tech library before the IU merger. Transferring IU staff took precedence, an our jobs.

Hey Ocean! What law firm in NYC? I worked for the Chicago branch of an NYC firm!!! Uh oh, I feel a small world thing happening! I always liked SLA better than AALL conventions. More diverse crowd at SLA.

I'm sorry about the Ivy Tech thing. I was reorg'd out of my first law firm gig. Had nothing to do with me, but it still hurt.
