I am going this Tuesday to Indianapolis for 8 hour, and I was looking around Google Maps to figure out what to do. My bus stops right downtown at 104 N Alabama St. This is what I gathered so far:

[Circle Center Mall]
49 West Maryland Street, Indianapolis, IN

[Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis]

[White River State Park]

[Indiana Repertory Theatre]
W Washington St and N Capitol Ave

[Indiana State Museum]
650 W Washington St

[Indianapolis Artsgarden]
110 West Washington Street

What do you guys think? How safe is the area? From what I gather, it's pretty safe? I'm going to walk everywhere, so I'd rather not go to places that are too far.

Is that enough to do? How about the zoo, is it free to get in? I'm not too interested in zoos, but if it's free I would probably go in.

[Circle Center Mall] covers two long blocks and is two levels with the food court and restaurants. Of course mainly chains and you may not know what city you are in but a great place to kill some time.
49 West Maryland Street, Indianapolis, IN

[White River State Park] has the zoo and White River Garden. Not free. Depends on the weather and how much walking you really want.

[Indiana Repertory Theatre]
W Washington St and N Capitol Ave

[Indiana State Museum] There is a grouping of newish museums here.
650 W Washington St

Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art Eiteljorg Museum Terrific museum.

City Market is very very close the Megabus drop off and has good food and seats to rest. Market and Delaware.

Georgia Street is where the Superbowl activities took place and is next to the mall.

The historic State of Indiana government building is within a block or so of the mall as is the Soldier's and Sailor's Monument in the "center" of the city.

Our new library ($125M+) is not too many blocks north and the walk goes past a two smallish parks. Again a nice place to rest, read, and has a cafe.

The college is too far away to walk and not very scenic.
